Sahra Halgan

Sahra Halgan is considered the voice of Somaliland, a region in northern Somalia that has been de facto independent since 1991 after a devastating civil war but is scarcely recognized internationally. Her songs, in a pure and unpretentious musical form, depict the world of the people in Somaliland, their sufferings and joys. Her music blends the tradition of African Horn sounds with rock influences. She sings about love, gratitude, and the rebuilding of her nation.
