Thorbjørn Risager & The Black Tornado

Denmark

Thorbjörn Risager & The Black Tornado are Denmark’s leading roots-rock band, and they’ve proven this long before their new album “House of Sticks” (released 01/25 on Mascot Records).

For more than two decades, the band has been performing tirelessly on stages around the world, thrilling audiences time and time again. It’s not just the band’s charismatic stage presence, but also their distinctive sound – which euphorically blends soul, Chicago blues, boogie, and rock ’n’ roll – that captivates listeners. Thorbjørn Risager’s voice – somewhere between Ray Charles, Van Morrison, and Billy Gibbons – is considered the icing on the cake.

When the octet takes the stage, it’s a visual feast. The traditional lineup of vocals, guitar, bass, and drums is joined by piano, woodwinds and brass, strings, and several background singers.

The multi-award-winning band has won over not only the audience but also fellow musicians and music legends: Among others, the band has opened for Bonnie Raitt and the Tedeschi Trucks Band, and frontman Thorbjørn Risager himself has shared the stage with legends such as Buddy Guy, Doyle Bramhall II, and Robben Ford. And who else can count Elwood Blues himself – Dan Aykroyd – among their fans?
