Mouvman Alé

La Réunion

Mouvman Alé was founded in 2016 by singer-songwriter Franswa Virassamy-Macé.

Influences for the band's unique sound include the Indian Hindu celebratory trance music of the Malbar community, in which Virassamy-Macé grew up, as well as the voice and percussion of Creole Maloya. The band also drew from their musical experiences in Bordeaux and London. The ensemble, led by the distinctive singer, combines traditional sounds from the island of La Réunion with rock and electronic elements.

"The band puts in music the daily life in La Reunion, the landscapes, and the particularity of the island." - ROLLING STONE
